Zeena Kaladeh

A free spirit, a dreamer and a non-conformist, my name is Zeena Kalaldeh, I’m a film & TV director and producer, an idealist, lover of nature, a mother of a soccer-obsessed 9 year old boy and a wife of a very supportive husband. I studied Communication Arts at the Lebanese American University. After completing my BA degree, I worked for Arab Radio and Television in Amman as a producer/director for children’s shows and entertainment programmes. Two years following to my first step in the media field in Jordan, I decided to pursue a higher degree in Film and TV Production from the University of Bristol in the UK. I then returned to Jordan and worked on various projects with Jordan Pioneers, ATV, Lemon Tree Productions and UNOPS. Those fine places introduced me to new people, big ideas and global concepts that helped shape the person I am today. In 2012, I decided to take a break from work and focus on my family and home. Along that, I’m working to fulfil my life long ambitions and dreams that I’ve had since a young girl. I’m very pleased to be part of the LH4CANCER/Africa team; I’ve wanted to do it for a great charity, for myself by pushing my horizons and for my son to show him that dreams can become reality if we have the courage to pursue them. Eyad El-Shareef

Eyad Jihad El-Shareef, born in Amman 1985. I have started my school at the cozy L’ecole d’enfants in Amman downtown and finished my high school at Terra Sancta College. A law graduate from University of Jordan, I obtained my LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law at University College London (UCL) in 2007 and was one of the youngest students in my class. I have started my professional life as an intern at Arab Bank, and now I am a legal counsel at Arab Bank and a partner in Jihad El-Shareef & Associates advising companies and prominent individuals on various legal matters of their businesses. I love reading, travelling, music and photography. I am always wondering about the true meaning of humanity, the real purpose of life, and the contribution one can make in others’ lives. Always asking myself how can we make the world, we live in, a better place; the world as it is supposed to be. I joined various voluntary activities in Jordan such as those held by Tkiyet Um Ali, Al Azraq Reserve and Amman International Marathon, and other initiatives in the region. I still feel that I can do way more! I was fascinated by the “From The Lowest Point to The Highest Point for Cancer / Everest” initiative as it made me realize that any positive change comes, from within, when one decides to get out of his own comfort zone, facing his own fears and insecurities and making the change one wants to see in the world. And so, I decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to make this dream come true and declare from above Africa that everyone can be an added value to humanity and that the slightest gesture by someone can help saving another’s life! As we are losing our dear ones to cancer everyday, I hope this noble initiative will help us raise funds to King Hussein Cancer Center so that it can host the increasing number of patients and give them the treatment they need helping them in their fight for life! The Center has always been a landmark for determination, strength and most importantly hope. We all have to help it remaining a lighthouse that shows us the way. Donate

Zohrab Markarian

Zohrab’s name is synonymous in Jordan with beautiful photography and stunning images. He is the country’s best-known photographer and has a remarkable portfolio that ranges across all types of photography, from people to high profile events to landscapes. His story began with a competition of flower photography in Jordan in 1974, which was held under the patronage of Queen Alia. Zohrab’s entry clinched the first prize, for which he received a Canon camera and a step into an amazing and exciting journey that has led him to where he is today. “After the competition Their Majesties called me to their residence and asked me to become their official photographer,” said Zohrab. And that is what he became, attending many royal events to document official occasions and snap memories of happy ones. Impressed with his work, Her Majesty the late Queen Alia suggested sending Zohrab abroad to hone his photography skills at a specialized school. Tragically, she passed away two weeks later; however, His Majesty the late King Hussein, determined to fulfill her wishes, supported the development of Zohrab’s career by sending him to the Germaine School of Photography in Manhattan in 1977 for two years.
Zohrab excelled throughout his studies, receiving several prizes from the school during his time there and graduating with numerous honorary certificates.
Back in Jordan, Zohrab traveled all over the world with His Majesty the late King Hussein as the official palace photographer, working with him for 22 years. In due time, Zohrab presented the King with a book of photographs, the first of many to follow. “King and Country”, one of his renowned books, was an instant hit. Zohrab’s name was firmly established. Since then, several of his images have been published in renowned magazines such as Newsweek, Time, People Magazine and other international publications. His photographs have also featured in a number of exhibitions around the world, including Amman, London, Los Angeles and Japan. To date Zohrab has published 15 books about Jordan and the Royal Family, and established three Jordanian magazines. To publishers: Hello I'm Zohrab Markarian's daughter. Zohrab’s entry clinched the first prize, and which launched him into an amazing and exciting journey that has led him to where he is today. He has some incredible stories on them that are very bizarre. He was also very close with the King and has many stories about him and the Royal family.
Zohrab presented the King with many books of photographs and Zohrab’s name was firmly established. Since then, several of his images have been published in renowned magazines such as Newsweek, Time, People Magazine and other international publications. He was also on CNN "Inside the Middle East".
